Nutrien Underground Rocanville

Project Details

Core is currently preforming the Primary Ground Control duties including:

  • Advise on and implement Ground Control initiatives to “make the ground safe for everyone underground”.
  • Often called upon to advise the client on remedies of “loose, fractured or unsafe” ground.
  • Work with the Client’s Mine Engineering Departments to mitigate the hazards of “loose” underground.
  • With the direction of an engineering ground control print, our workers, sound and scale to confirm ground conditions.  Followed by drilling and installing ground support, mechanical rock bolts, forged head and resin rebar bolts to mitigate the dangers of “bad ground”.  Also drilling test holes for ongoing inspections.
  • Install ground movement monitoring devices known as sag flags, cable -bolt catch systems, crib sets, split sets etc .
  • Reclaim extensible belts, mainline belts, including their structure and hardware.  Posts, idlers, cables and framed structures.  Over pass/ under pass install and removal.
  • Build UG air doors, single and double acting, bulkheads, regulators and installed mine ventilation fans.
  • Clean under and around underground ground belts, tail pulleys, bins, drives, landings, etc.   Blow spear, shoveling to help try and maintain housekeeping and keep “Production rolling”
  • Adhere to our own Safety standards that meet or exceed the Clients procedures and protocols.  We have JHAs (Job Hazard Analysis) for all work being preformed.  SWP (Safe Work Plans) and TRAP Task Risk Assesment Packages when required.  Daily FLRA cards are done by each individual working, and up dated as tasks change and new hazards are identified.
