Although the project had a number of challenges and variability, KDM Constructors and CORE Industrial successfully remediated the slopes of a run-off pond at BHP Jansen site. Over time, wave and ice action had disturbed the Geo-cell baskets and displaced the aggregate on the pond slopes. KDM and CORE were able to utilize a Tri-axle hydrovac, with attachments specifically fabricated for this project, to remove the existing aggregate from the areas of pond slope which required remediation. This allowed our crews access to perform the necessary repairs and re-pin the Geo-cell using J-hooks to prevent future lifting. A loader, rock truck, and long-reach excavator were then used to infill the Geo-cells with aggregate, and a dozer was used to track pack the aggregate in place. This project was completed under-budget, and ahead of schedule, without any safety incidents.
